Get to know Joe Rooney
Raised in Ardsley, PA, Joe graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1976, where he played football, participated in track, and edited the yearbook. He then attended Cornell University, earning a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1980 while on a Football and NROTC Scholarship. Joe served in the US Marine Corps from 1980 to 2003, both on active duty and in the reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after flying the F4 Phantom and F18 Hornet. He also had a long career with Delta Air Lines from 1990 to 2020, retiring as a Captain on the B737-800/900.
Joe has been married to Beth Hubert for 38 years, and they have five grown children. Throughout their lives, they have embarked on numerous adventures, including sailing between Philadelphia and Malaysia on their sailboat and taking extensive RV trips across the USA and Canada with their kids. They also have a rustic hunting cabin in the Poconos, where they love to explore.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting, and participating in team sports. Beth and Joe have been active leaders in their children’s Boy and Girl Scout troops, and Joe has coached their sports teams. Additionally, Joe is involved in Queen of Peace Parish and participates in activities with the Abington and Rockledge GOP.
